photography show

i am having my very first photography show; it begins and last throughout the month of october. i am very nervous but have also become increasingly excited to display my photographs. the one thing i love the most about photography is sharing it with other people. i am inspired in so many ways: the person who bought me my awesome nikon camera, the special people in my life, work assigned through school, lyrics from a song, lines from a poem, as well as my many lost adventures. it's been a wonderful journey thus far and i hope to continue the journey as well as documenting the experiences and inspiration along the way.

the cards you see below depict my work but the design was done by a friend and graphic artist that i work with...aren't they wonderful? i have to thank her as well as those who have helped me put together all the pieces of my show...thanks everyone! please come by and grab a cup of coffee and take a look around the walls of the community bakery...let me know what you think...

i love these little flowers!

it amazes me how nice people can still be, in 2004. what is sad is this should not amaze or surprise me; however, the likelihood of meeting a truly genuine and nice person today is rare, but refreshing. i was walking from class to my truck last night, on the phone with chris :we'll call him my boyfriend: when i realized i was going to have to write a check for a $1.00 bag of chips. leave it to me to leave all means of cash or debit card at work, useless. in the process of discussing this with chris over the phone, the lady walking ahead of me pauses then turns around and hands me a dollar and says, "here's a the dollar for a bag of chips." i was stunned and asked if she was sure and then thanked her as she continued walking. this was an act of kindness that was unexpected but very much appreciated. i just felt i needed to share...

i love this photograph of my mom. if you only know my mom, you would be wondering why she is holding a fishing pole of all things. today is her birthday. she has inspired me and always supported me. i am her personal secretary, chauffeur, and fashion consultant. she is my biggest fan, one of my most important critics and my best friend. she is an all around wonderful and giving person. happy birthday, mom!!
